The Carroll Labor Government is getting on with easing congestion and improving safety in Melbourne’s west.
Early works have started on the Derrimut Road and Boundary Road Intersection Upgrade in Tarneit.
Temporary traffic lights will be replaced with permanent signals.
The upgrade will also deliver:
- Dedicated right-turn lanes on all intersection approaches
- Shared straight-or-left lanes on Boundary and Hopkins roads
- A dedicated left-turn lane on Derrimut Road, and
- Road widening, drainage upgrades, street lighting, and new signs and line marking.
Major work will start early next year, with completion expected in late 2027.
The $30.79 million project is jointly funded by the Victorian Government and Wyndham City Council.
It will help connect thousands of drivers to the Western Freeway in the north and the Princes Highway in the south.
The intersection carries high traffic volumes and is a key freight route for nearby industrial and transport sites.
Labor is also delivering the Point Cook Road and Central Avenue, Ballan Road, Werribee Main Road and Ison Road projects in Melbourne’s west.
Pre-construction work is underway on the Western Freeway Upgrade between Melton and Caroline Springs.
Victorians know they can’t trust the Liberals on roads. They cut funding for roads the last time they were in power and under a Liberal-One Nation Coalition, they’ll cut again.
